RULES and REGULATIONS

1. The contest is open to all interested amateur and professional God-loving composers, songwriters, and lyricists from Couples for Christ and its Family and Social Ministries. Members of the 1st Glory CFC Canada Songwriting Festival Screening Committee and their immediate families are not eligible.

2. There will be two Contest Categories:

1. The Praise and Worship Song Category
2. The Pop Impressionistic Song* Category

*The Pop Impressionistic Song Category includes songs that convey themes or messages expressing wholesome Christian values e.g. the value of life, caring for our natural environment, the importance of strengthening family, empathizing with the poor, the dream of our young people, etc.

3. All entries must be original songs and must not have been previously published, recorded and/or released. Songs may have multiple co-writers, but for purposes of communication only one name is to be entered in the entry form.

4. The lyrics must be in English.

5. The length of the song must not exceed seven (7) minutes.

6. Contestants may enter as many songs in both categories as desired but each entry requires separate cassette, entry form, lyric sheet, and entry fee. Entry fee is non-refundable. CFC Songwriting Festival is not responsible for late, lost or damaged, misdirected, postage due, stolen or misappropriated entries. Cassettes and lyrics will not be returned.

7. A total of fourteen (14) songs will be chosen to qualify for the finals: seven (7) to represent the Praise and Worship Song Category and another seven (7) to represent the Pop Impressionistic Song Category.

8. All entries must be submitted on a cassette tape (1 song per tape ) with vocal rendition and instrumental accompaniment (1 guitar, piano, keyboard, strings, or drums, but not to exceed four instruments.)

9. Each entry to be considered must have two sets comprising of:

1st set to be submitted to your local CFC area

• 3 typed copies of lyrics with guitar chords and/or music lead sheets and should include:
  -songwriter's name, address & phone number
  -song title
  -any literary inspiration (e.g. Bible text reference)
  
• completed and signed entry form (original signature)
  
• cd or cassette tape (labeled with song title, songwriter's name)
  
  

2nd set to be submitted to the address below.

• 1 typed copy of lyrics with guitar chords and/or music lead sheets and should include:
  -songwriter's name, address & phone number
  -song title
  -any literary inspiration (e.g. Bible text reference)

Note: Ontario residents are only required to submit the 1st set.

10. Cheque of 10.00 CDN, payable to Couples for Christ, shall be sent to same address as above.

11. Prizes will be awarded jointly to all authors of any song. Division of prizes is the responsibility of winners.

12. The winning song will automatically be sent to Manila, Philippines. The winner or his/her/their representatives may opt to attend and compete in the 6th International Songwriting Festival in Manila, and must therefore be eligible to travel outside of Canada

13. The winning composer(s) must sign and return an affidavit (see next page for sample) confirming that he/she/they hold full rights to the song. Failure to sign and return the form within 30 days will result in immediate disqualification and an alternative winner will be selected. Affidavits of winners under 18 years of age at time of award must be countersigned by parent or legal guardian.
